Quail Drive House, Mount Washington, California
This project was elaborated during
2003/2004 as a single family residence in a suburb of Los Angeles regarded as a “hidden
treasure” and loved by the residents for its proximity to downtown and its green, lush,
almost rural setting.
The house presented a double challenge, from an architectural design perspective:
on the one hand, how to design and develop a typical dwelling with 3 bedrooms,
2.5 bathrooms and a 2-car garage on a lot that presented severe geometrical limitations.
And, on the other hand, how to resolve this issue with a proposal that was simple, sober
yet inventive in its use of space, providing plenty of light and functional freedom.
The result is a house both simple and elegant with clean lines and an open floor plan,
molded to accommodate the lot that holds it and fronting towards Quail Drive.
